What is Ortho-K(Orthokeratology)?
Ortho-K is a non surgical process which reshapes the cornea(eye) by using custom designed RGP lenses thereby reducing the dependence of eye glasses or contact lenses.
How safe is Ortho-K?
Many people have been able to eliminate their dependence upon their eye glasses or contact lenses without adverse effect Unlike laser surgery,the cornea tissue is not removed or scarred causing poor night vision or other surgery related complications.However,as with all contact lenses wear,care must be taken to maintain eye health.
Is Ortho-K suitable for me?
Ortho-K does not work for everybody.Your Ortho-K practitioner will be able to advise you.
Can I benefit from Ortho-K if I'm a suitable candidate?
Ortho-K lens work best on people who have near sightedness and astigmatism,but lens design
are also being developed for farsightedness and presbyopia.How long it takes for me to see well without my vision correction aids (eye glasses or contact lens)Changes in your vision can be appreciated within hours to days.In some cases it takes from 3 to 6 months to achieved stable functional vision.
Do I still have to wear my glasses or contact lenses?
Once the desired level of vision correction is achieved,the final lenses will act as retainers to maintain that desired level.This short period of daily to weekly wearing time is customized for each patient.Your regular contact lens or eye glasses are not needed.
Can Ortho-K help children & teenagers to control their vision changes?
Absolutely,Ortho-K is used to retard the progression of shortsightedness and other refractive error.This will allow the children and teenagers to enjoy the world of vision and a better lifestyle.
Is Ortho-K permanent?
After your treatment and maximum results are achieved,the retainer lenses are worn to stabilize the cornea shape.If you do not wear the retainer lens on an on going basis,your vision correction needs,will to your pre-treatment prescription.

A patient's Comment About Ortho-K
I am Nicholas Leong and I have been wearing glasses since 7 years old.I hate wearing glasses because it is heavy,not comfortable and expensive.I have changed my glasses for five times and increase in lens power from 1.2 to 3.1 in two years.
When my mother hears about Ortho-K, she wants me to have a try at this new technology system.At first,I was scared, and then my mother encourages me to give it a try.I also go for several check-ups to see is there any effect when I wear on the contact lens and to find the correct contact lens that fit my eyes.
The contact lens will be ready after one week,if the contact lens does not fit the eye,it must be send back to the factory.The first time I wore contact lens,the optometrist will give some eye drops to lessen the discomfort.
Now,I am wearing the contact lens,it is so comfortable and no need to be scared about losing my glasses or broken.I am very happy about this eye correction technology that helps me to get rid of wearing glasses.
